JWP Strongly Reacts to Remarks on Nawab Akbar Bugti, Calls Statement “Contrary to Historical Facts”
QUETTA: The Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) has strongly reacted to recent remarks made by former caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar regarding late Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, terming the statement “contrary to historical facts” and deeply regrettable.
In a statement, the JWP expressed serious concern and strong condemnation over the comments, saying they were unacceptable and hurt the sentiments of the people of Balochistan.
The party said that Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti remains an important and prominent figure in the history of Balochistan, whose political struggle, sacrifices, and services for the rights of the Baloch people cannot be undermined or forgotten.
It stated that Bugti dedicated his political life to raising his voice for the rights, resources, and identity of the people of Balochistan. According to the statement, he was a democratic and public-oriented leader who pursued constitutional and political means to highlight the province’s issues at the national level.
The JWP further said that even at an advanced age, Nawab Bugti remained firm on his principles and ultimately chose the path of sacrifice rather than compromising on his stance, which is why he is still remembered as a courageous and influential leader.
The party criticized the remarks attributed to Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, stating that they do not align with historical facts and have hurt the sentiments of the people of Balochistan. It added that responsible discourse about historical personalities requires restraint, accuracy, and respect.
The statement emphasized that the solution to Balochistan’s challenges lies not in controversial interpretations of historical figures but in promoting dialogue, constitutional rights, political engagement, and mutual respect.
Reaffirming its position, the JWP said it pays tribute to Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti’s struggle, ideology, and sacrifices, and reiterated its commitment to continuing the struggle for democratic values, public rights, and justice.
