PkMAP Condemns Rising Crime in Quetta, Demands Probe into Police Performance

QUETTA: The district chapter of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has strongly condemned the increasing incidents of crime, theft, robbery, and what it described as the continued failure of police to protect citizens in Quetta.

In a statement, the party expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the provincial capital, alleging that criminal elements are operating openly while police have failed to take effective action against known offenders.

The statement referred to a recent robbery within the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines Police Station, where armed suspects allegedly snatched a motorcycle, two mobile phones, and cash from a citizen identified as Ayan Khan before fleeing the scene.

The party also highlighted another incident in the Hazarganji area, where a party member, Janan Khan, was reportedly deprived of his motorcycle. According to the statement, the assailants opened fire when he resisted, leaving him seriously injured.

PkMAP said the growing number of theft and robbery cases has created widespread public anxiety and raised serious questions about police performance. The party claimed that the lack of action against known criminals may indicate either negligence or possible collusion by certain officials, and called for a thorough investigation into the matter.

The statement stressed that the immediate recovery of stolen motorcycles and other valuables, along with effective measures to curb crime, is essential. It emphasized that protecting the lives and property of citizens is a fundamental responsibility of the state and law enforcement agencies.

The party warned that if authorities fail to take prompt and meaningful action against criminal activities, arrest those involved, and improve public safety, it reserves the right to launch public protests.

PkMAP also called on the Inspector General of Police, Balochistan, to order an immediate inquiry into the performance of police stations across Quetta, particularly those in areas with high crime rates. The party demanded accountability for any officials found negligent and urged the authorities to arrest those involved in theft and robbery cases without delay.
