Met Office Issues Heatwave Alert as Temperatures Expected to Rise in Karachi

The Meteorological Department has warned that temperatures in Karachi are expected to rise further starting today, as a nationwide heatwave alert has been issued from June 7 to June 12.
According to the forecast, the coastal city of Karachi may experience temperatures reaching up to 43°C between June 8 and June 12. However, due to high humidity levels, the “feels-like” temperature during the daytime could also reach around 43°C, making conditions more severe for residents.
Weather officials noted that increased moisture in the air will intensify the heat, causing additional discomfort for citizens despite coastal influences.
The Met Office has advised people, especially children, women, and the elderly, to take extra precautions during the heatwave. Citizens have been urged to avoid direct sunlight between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when heat intensity is at its peak.
Authorities have also recommended increased water intake and other precautionary measures to prevent heat-related illnesses during the ongoing hot weather spell.
The heatwave alert is part of a broader weather system affecting large parts of the country, with authorities monitoring conditions closely.
