PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Warns of Boycott of All Assemblies Amid Political Isolation Claims
GILGIT: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has strongly criticized political opponents ahead of the upcoming Gilgit-Baltistan elections, warning that his party may consider boycotting all assemblies and withdrawing from the political system if what he described as PTI’s political isolation continues.
Speaking in Gilgit, Barrister Gohar accused the ruling coalition and its allies of attempting to sideline PTI through political tactics rather than competing on performance and public support.
Criticizing the election campaign of rival parties, he said that politicians who failed to win in their own constituencies elsewhere in Pakistan had now arrived in Gilgit-Baltistan seeking votes. He expressed confidence that the people of the region would reject what he called the government’s narrative and political approach.
The PTI chairman further alleged that the primary achievement of the current rulers over the past four years had been efforts to prevent PTI from succeeding in elections. According to him, the public in both Pakistan and Gilgit-Baltistan would not be misled by such strategies.
Issuing what he described as a final warning to the government, Barrister Gohar said PTI’s ongoing political isolation and what the party views as political victimization must come to an end. He stated that if the situation does not improve, the party could be compelled to make a decisive move, including boycotting every assembly in the country and withdrawing from the existing political system altogether.
His remarks come as political activity intensifies ahead of the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, with major parties stepping up their campaigns across the region. PTI leaders maintain that a level playing field is essential for free and fair elections, while government representatives have previously rejected allegations of political discrimination.
