Pakistan to Host ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2028, Announces ICC

Lahore (Khabar Desk) — The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially awarded Pakistan the hosting rights for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2028, marking another major global cricket event to be staged in the country.

According to the ICC, the decision was approved in its latest meeting. Pakistan has previously hosted major international tournaments, including the Champions Trophy, and will now add another prestigious global event to its cricketing calendar.

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2028 will feature 12 teams in total. As per the qualification structure, 10 teams will qualify directly, including the top eight teams from the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, the host nation (if not already qualified), and the next highest-ranked team(s) in the ICC Women’s T20 rankings as of July 20, 2026.

The remaining two spots will be decided through a global qualifying tournament, which will include various regional qualification events.

The ICC report further stated that matches involving the Indian women’s team will be played at neutral venues. The final details regarding match scheduling and regional allocations will be confirmed in the ICC meeting scheduled for July.

The announcement is being seen as a major boost for Pakistan’s cricket infrastructure and its status as a host of international sporting events.
