Jasprit Bumrah Registers Unwanted T20 Record in IPL 2026

Jasprit Bumrah has recorded a unique but unwanted milestone in T20 cricket history after a disappointing campaign in the Indian Premier League.

According to Indian media reports, the star fast bowler, representing Mumbai Indians, endured a difficult season in IPL 2026.

Bumrah became the first bowler in T20 history to concede more than 100 runs per wicket in a season while meeting the minimum qualification criteria. He gave away 294 runs in 13 matches at an economy rate of 8.37 while taking only four wickets.

The Indian pacer failed to take more than one wicket in any match throughout the tournament. His bowling average stood at 102.50, while his strike rate was recorded at 73.50 for the season.

The record was calculated based on the minimum qualification benchmark of 40 overs bowled during the tournament.

Reports suggested that opposing batters adopted a cautious strategy against Bumrah, preferring to play defensively rather than take risks. Meanwhile, the expensive bowling performances of other Mumbai Indians bowlers allowed batters to target them instead.

Despite the poor statistical record, Bumrah still managed to control the scoring rate in most matches and remained one of Mumbai Indians’ more economical bowlers during the season.
