Field Marshal Asim Munir Concludes Key Iran Visit as Mediation Efforts Show Progress: ISPR

Islamabad: Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has concluded a brief but highly significant official visit to Iran, where important discussions were held with the Iranian leadership on regional peace and de-escalation efforts, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s media wing stated that encouraging progress towards a final understanding was achieved following intensive discussions held over the past 24 hours.
Upon his arrival in Tehran, the Field Marshal was received by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni along with senior civilian and military officials.
During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir held key meetings with Iran’s top leadership as part of ongoing diplomatic and mediation efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions and promoting peace.
The Army Chief met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
According to ISPR, the meetings took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere and played an important role in advancing the mediation process. The statement added that the deep discussions held during the last 24 hours resulted in encouraging progress towards a final understanding.
ISPR further said the purpose of the meetings was to ensure de-escalation in the region following the April 8 ceasefire and to strengthen constructive engagement between the concerned sides.
The Iranian leadership appreciated Pakistan’s sincere and constructive role in promoting dialogue and seeking peaceful solutions to regional issues, the statement added.
