Afghan Woman Refugee in Australia Makes History by Conquering Mount Everest

Australia: Afghan woman Zakia Riwor Ahmad, who sought asylum in Australia, has made history by successfully summiting Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak.

Zakia Ahmad became the first Afghan woman to conquer the 8,848-meter-high mountain. She reached the summit of Mount Everest at 7:20 a.m. today.

According to reports, Zakia moved to Australia some time ago due to the difficult situation in Afghanistan. She obtained her Everest climbing permit using Australian travel documents.

Originally from Afghanistan’s Ghazni province, Zakia’s achievement is being celebrated as a historic milestone for Afghan women around the world.
