KP Governor Proposes Ending Lockdown Restrictions on Punjab Model

PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has proposed ending lockdown restrictions in the province on the pattern of Punjab, suggesting relief in business and market operating hours.
According to details, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi contacted Chief Minister Suhail Afridi via telephone on Friday and discussed the overall situation in the province along with public issues.
During the conversation, the governor proposed easing restrictions on the operating hours of shops, markets, and shopping malls. He said extending business hours would help reduce the financial losses faced by traders and provide relief to the public.
A statement issued by the Governor House said Chief Minister Suhail Afridi agreed with the governor’s suggestions.
Governor Kundi emphasized that providing relief to citizens should remain the government’s top priority amid the current economic challenges.
The discussion also covered the province’s overall administrative situation and measures aimed at addressing public concerns.
Earlier, Punjab lifted restrictions on business timings until June 1, removing the 8 p.m. closing limit across the province. The Sindh government has also ended the lockdown imposed under its austerity campaign.
