History Distortion Attempts Are Unacceptable, Bugti Tribe Stands by Collective Decisions and Traditions: Shahid Rind

Quetta (Daily Qudrat) — Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Balochistan for Political and Media Affairs Shahid Rind has strongly reacted to a recent statement by Nawab Mir Aali Bugti, saying that attempts to deny facts and distort history are not only unfortunate but also an insult to the collective wisdom, traditions, and historical decisions of the Bugti tribe.
He said that Nawab Mir Aali Bugti’s denial of the existence of the “Chief of Bugti” position is, in fact, a rejection of his own past, his own turban ceremony, and his own tribal decisions. Shahid Rind stated that during the traditional turban ceremony, the first turban was placed according to Balochi customs by late Mir Ghulam Qadir Masuri Bugti.
He questioned that if Nawab Mir Aali Bugti does not recognize the position of Chief of Bugti today, then who placed the turban on his head during his installation ceremony as Nawab? He further asked whether that historical ceremony was merely a symbolic gathering or a collective decision of the Bugti tribe.
Rind stated that historical records still confirm that late Mir Ghulam Qadir Masuri Bugti placed the turban on Nawab Mir Aali Bugti as Chief of Bugti, and this fact cannot be changed by any political statement or convenience.
He added that he himself was present as a journalist at the ceremony and that his reporting from that time remains part of the official record. He also said that the late Fahad Bugti, if alive, would have confirmed this fact.
He further noted that the stage secretary of the event, Durhan Bugti, can also verify the details of the ceremony.
Shahid Rind said that the Bugti tribe is guided by traditions, collective decisions, and consensus of tribal elders rather than emotional slogans. He stated that tribal elders had earlier recognized Nawab Mir Aali Bugti, just as the same traditional process was followed in installing current Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti as Chief of Bugti.
He claimed that the recent statement by a member of the Nawab family reflects personal political frustration and escape from reality, and said it has been rejected by the Bugti tribe and its elders.
He further said that history in tribal societies is not decided in closed rooms but in the presence of the community and respected elders. Shahid Rind added that any attempt to distort tribal traditions and historical facts for political gain would be strongly responded to.
In his concluding remarks, he urged Nawab Mir Aali Bugti to return from “luxurious and air-conditioned rooms in Dubai” to Dera Bugti, live among his people, and contribute to resolving public issues and welfare of the community.
