During the session, Speaker Captain (Retd) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai remarked that one of the two Jamaat-e-Islami members in the assembly is in government while the other sits in opposition, joking that “one asks questions and the other answers them.” His remark triggered laughter across the house.
Responding to the comment, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman clarified that he contested elections under the platform of the “Haq Do Tehreek” and remains part of the opposition. He further stated that he does not belong to those politicians “who are in opposition during the day and part of the government at night,” drawing another wave of reactions in the assembly.
