Pakistan’s Oil Output Rises as OGDC Expands Domestic Production

Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has increased its domestic crude oil production from around 32,000 barrels per day to 41,000 barrels per day in recent months, officials said.
Managing Director Ahmed Hayat Lak revealed that the company currently has the capacity to boost production beyond 43,000 barrels per day within the country.
He stated that before recent geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, OGDCL’s production stood at approximately 32,500 barrels per day. However, due to intensified efforts to enhance local oil and gas output, production has now increased to 41,000 barrels per day.
According to the MD, Pakistan’s recoverable oil and gas reserves have also improved significantly, extending the country’s supply outlook from 12 years (in 2022–23) to around 17 years at present.
Officials further said that exploration activities are accelerating, with new discoveries of oil and gas reserves being made across the country.
Last month, a major discovery was reported in Kohat at the Braxai X-1 well, which officials described as one of the largest oil and gas finds in Pakistan’s history, contributing nearly 10% of the country’s total crude oil production.
