15 Policemen Martyred in Suicide Attack on Bannu Police Checkpost

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the suicide attack on a police checkpost in Bannu that left 15 police personnel martyred and three others injured.
According to police sources, terrorists targeted the Fateh Khel police checkpost in Bannu district late at night by crashing an explosives-laden vehicle into the facility. The powerful explosion completely destroyed the checkpost.
Hospital officials confirmed that the martyrs included Rahmat Ayaz, Sanaullah, Niaz Ali, Saadullah, and several other police officers. The injured personnel are being provided with the best possible medical treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu.
Immediately after the attack, additional police units and rescue teams reached the site and launched relief and rescue operations, removing debris and shifting the martyrs and injured to the hospital.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif contacted Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and strongly condemned the terrorist attack. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, prayed for the departed souls, and extended condolences to the bereaved families.
The Prime Minister stated that the federal government remains committed to working with all provincial governments for the complete eradication of terrorism, adding that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces, security agencies, and police are unforgettable.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also expressed grief over the incident, saying that 15 brave personnel of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police embraced martyrdom while performing their duties.
He said the courageous officers sacrificed their lives to protect the people of Pakistan and defend peace, adding that their bravery and sacrifices would never be forgotten. He further emphasized that Pakistan stands united against terrorism and such cowardly attacks cannot weaken the nation’s resolve.
Meanwhile, DIG Bannu Region Sajjad Khan personally supervised the search operation and praised the high morale of the police force.
“The morale of Bannu Police is high, and terrorists will never succeed in their evil intentions,” he said, warning that the attackers would be hunted down and brought to justice.
