More Double-Decker and Electric Buses to Hit Karachi Roads Soon, Sindh Government Announces

Karachi: The government of Sindh has announced plans to introduce more electric (EV) and double-decker buses in Karachi as part of efforts to modernize the public transport system.
The announcement was made by Sharjeel Inam Memon while chairing an important meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department.
Sharjeel Memon, who also serves as Senior Minister of Sindh, said the provincial government is working to upgrade the mass transit system on modern lines to provide better travel facilities to citizens.
During the meeting, officials reviewed new routes for the Peoples Bus Service, distribution of Pink EV scooters, the proposed EV taxi service, and ongoing as well as upcoming mass transit projects.
The transport minister said the Sindh government would purchase an additional 1,000 Pink EV scooters to facilitate women commuters across the province.
He further announced that more EV and double-decker buses would soon be added to Karachi’s public transport network to improve commuting services for residents.
Sharjeel Memon also revealed that the government has decided to launch intercity Peoples Bus Service routes to further expand the public transport system.
Under the plan, new routes from Khairpur to Rohri and from Khairpur to Ranipur will become operational next week.
He added that intercity bus services would also soon be launched in districts including Larkana, Dadu, Sehwan, Hyderabad, and Sanghar to provide safer, improved, and modern transportation facilities to the public.
The meeting was attended by Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Managing Director of Sindh Mass Transit Authority Saleemullah Odho, and other senior officials.
