Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti Approves Key Projects in PPP Board Meeting

Quetta: Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, chaired the eighth meeting of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Board, where several key decisions were approved, including the transition of public transport to electric buses and shifting the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to solar energy.
Speaking during the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized that the provincial government is pursuing a comprehensive strategy to ensure sustainable development, economic stability, and public welfare. He noted that promoting public-private partnerships is helping improve the pace, quality, and sustainability of development projects.
One of the major decisions taken in the meeting was the gradual conversion of Quetta’s Green and Pink bus services into electric buses. The move aims to reduce urban pollution and provide citizens with modern, safe, and comfortable transport facilities.
In the energy sector, the board approved the transition of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to solar power, a step expected to cut costs and promote environmentally friendly policies.
The meeting also agreed to establish an insurance company in Balochistan under a public-private partnership model, which is expected to create new investment opportunities and strengthen the financial system. Authorities decided to formally invite proposals from the private sector for this initiative.
Addressing participants, Chief Minister Bugti reiterated the government’s commitment to leveraging private sector expertise and investment for developing modern infrastructure and services across the province.
He added that eco-friendly transport systems would significantly reduce pollution levels, while promoting alternative energy sources remains a top government priority.
The Chief Minister further stated that effective private sector participation would not only stabilize the economy but also generate employment opportunities, contributing to overall provincial development.
He directed relevant authorities to ensure timely implementation of approved projects and maintain strict monitoring so that the benefits reach the public without delay.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary for Development and Planning Zahid Saleem, PPP Authority CEO Dr. Faisal, and other senior officials.
