CM Balochistan Chairs High-Level Meeting on Border Districts’ Situation

Quetta:Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, chaired a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to review the current situation in districts adjacent to the Iran border. The meeting focused on the availability of food and fuel in border areas, the safe return of pilgrims and students, and the overall law and order situation.

Participants included Additional Chief Secretary for Home Zahid Saleem, Finance Secretary Imran Zarkoon, Director General PDMA Jahanzeb Khan, Government Spokesperson Shahid Rind, Director FIA Behram Khan Mandokhail, and officials from the Home Department. IGP Balochistan Moazzam Jah Ansari, Commissioners of Makran and Rakhshan divisions, and Deputy Commissioners of Iran-bordering districts joined the session via video link.

Officials briefed the meeting on current measures and future strategies. It was noted that there is no immediate food shortage in the border areas. The Chief Minister instructed that the uninterrupted supply of food items must be ensured to prevent any public inconvenience.

CM Bugti emphasized implementing alternative strategies for electricity and LPG supply. He said that efforts are underway in coordination with the federal government to address energy and fuel challenges, including ongoing communication with the Ministry of Petroleum to ensure petrol availability in border areas.

He stressed the importance of timely and coordinated measures to protect local populations from fuel and food shortages. PDMA was directed to keep a contingency plan ready for any emergency situation, ensuring a swift response.

The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the safe return of pilgrims and students and directed that their travel arrangements be further improved. He reiterated the government’s commitment to public relief efforts and called on all departments to work in harmony so that citizens in border areas feel safe and supported.
