Armed Robbers Loot Bank in Turbat, Escape with Cash; Police Claim Major Loss Averted

TURBAT (Web Desk) – Armed robbers looted a branch of Muslim Commercial Bank in Turbat’s main bazaar area, escaping with cash and weapons, while police claimed timely action prevented a larger loss.
According to police sources, the robbery took place at a branch located in Sonar Gali, where suspects fled with Rs 834,700 in cash from the counter. The assailants also snatched a rifle and a pistol from the bank’s private security guard before escaping.
The robbers reportedly attempted to set the bank on fire by sprinkling petrol near the strong room, but prompt action by Balochistan Police and bank staff prevented the fire from spreading, ensuring that locker funds remained safe.
Police teams rushed to the scene upon receiving information, forcing the suspects to flee. Senior officials, including DIG Makran Imran Qureshi and SP Kech Zohaib Mohsin, along with Frontier Corps personnel, arrived at the site and launched an investigation.
Speaking to media, SP Kech Zohaib Mohsin said police responded immediately after receiving reports of armed individuals entering the bank. He stated that teams including the SHO and DSP were dispatched without delay, and he himself reached the scene shortly after.
Initial investigations suggest the suspects remained inside the bank for only one to two minutes before fleeing. Eyewitnesses reported that the robbers fired shots and hurriedly escaped, allegedly shouting that police were arriving.
Police have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, while CCTV footage and other evidence are being reviewed. Authorities said multiple teams are pursuing the suspects and expressed confidence that those involved will soon be arrested and brought to justice.
