Saudi Arabia Pays Tribute to Pakistani Workers, Calls Them ‘Brothers Forever’

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has praised the contributions of Pakistani workers, calling them “brothers forever” and highlighting the strong, longstanding ties between the two nations.
In a statement issued on X (formerly Twitter) on the occasion of International Workers’ Day, the Saudi Embassy expressed pride in Pakistani laborers working in the Kingdom. “We are proud of our Pakistani worker brothers in Saudi Arabia, and we are brothers forever,” the statement said.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share close relations across political, economic, and defense sectors. More than two million Pakistanis are currently residing in the Kingdom, and their remittances play a vital role in supporting Pakistan’s economy.
In September last year, both countries signed a strategic mutual defense agreement, under which any aggression against one nation would be considered an attack on both.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Saudi Arabia last month to further strengthen bilateral relations, promote economic cooperation, and discuss regional security issues.
Saudi Arabia remains one of Pakistan’s key economic partners, providing financial support during challenging economic periods, including oil on deferred payments and investment commitments.
In April, the State Bank of Pakistan received $1 billion from the Saudi Ministry of Finance, completing a new $3 billion deposit agreement. Previously, Saudi Arabia had already extended financial assistance of up to $5 billion to Pakistan.
