Sharp Surge in Meat Prices Across Pakistan Makes It Hard for Citizens to Afford

Islamabad: Meat prices across Pakistan have witnessed a significant and continuous increase, making it increasingly difficult for citizens to afford both red and white meat.
According to details, broiler chicken prices in the open market have reached up to Rs511 per kilogram, while the price of a live chicken has risen between Rs1,200 and Rs1,300.
Mutton, which has an official price of Rs1,600 per kilogram, is being sold in the market for as high as Rs3,500 per kilogram. Similarly, beef, officially priced at Rs800 per kilogram, is now available for up to Rs1,400 per kilogram in various markets.
Citizens say that rising inflation has severely impacted household budgets, forcing many families to reduce meat consumption. They also expressed concern over the failure of local administrations, including the Islamabad district authorities, to enforce official price lists.
Consumers have urged the government to take immediate action against profiteering and ensure strict implementation of official rates to provide relief to the public.
