Afghan Soil Being Used for Attacks on Pakistan, Says Defence Minister Khawaja Asif

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that Afghan territory is being used for attacks against Pakistan and its citizens, expressing serious concern over militant groups operating from across the border.
Addressing the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ Conference in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, he highlighted the continued use of Afghan soil by banned outfits such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
Khawaja Asif stressed that credible, verifiable, and effective action against terrorist elements present in Afghanistan is essential. He emphasized that for regional peace and stability, countries must move away from blame games, hate-driven politics, and narratives aimed at domestic political gains.
He further stated that transparency, trust-building, and mutual cooperation are key to ensuring lasting peace. The minister also criticized negative propaganda against Pakistan, calling it politically motivated and based on hidden agendas.
Highlighting Pakistan’s efforts, Khawaja Asif said the country has made significant sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and has taken concrete actions rather than relying on rhetoric. He added that Pakistan’s contributions and achievements in counterterrorism should not be ignored, as they are vital for broader regional security.
