Qatar Backs Pakistan’s Mediation Efforts, Calls for Diplomatic Resolution of Regional Conflicts

DOHA: Qatar has expressed strong support for Pakistan’s role as a mediator in regional conflicts, stating that Islamabad is doing an “excellent job” and will continue to receive Doha’s backing.
Speaking during a weekly press briefing, Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized that dialogue remains the only viable path to resolving disputes.
He noted that Qatar is in close coordination with Pakistan regarding its mediation efforts and sees no need to expand the scope of negotiations at this stage. “We support Pakistan’s mediation because the issue does not lie with the mediator, and Pakistan is performing its role effectively,” he said.
Al-Ansari reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to diplomatic solutions, stating that the country remains in constant contact with regional and international partners. He added that Qatar fully aligns with Pakistan’s objective of promoting peaceful dialogue and negotiation.
On the issue of the Strait of Hormuz, the spokesperson said Qatar is engaging with all relevant stakeholders to ensure it remains open. He stressed that the waterway should never have been closed and must be reopened immediately, regardless of other regional developments.
Qatar also voiced concern over regional stability, noting that recent developments, including tensions involving Iran, have raised serious security concerns. The country reiterated its support for a comprehensive agreement to resolve ongoing conflicts and maintain stability in the region.
