PTI Maintains Distrust in Imran Khan’s Government-Provided Medical Treatment

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reiterated its lack of confidence in the government-provided medical treatment of its founding chairman and former prime minister, Imran Khan.
In a statement, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said he had received confirmation that Imran Khan was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) last night for an eye injection and medical check-up. He added that regardless of the nature of the treatment, the party’s concerns remain unresolved.
Gohar emphasized that PTI demands the transfer of Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, to a hospital where they can receive treatment under the supervision of their personal doctors, with family members present. He termed this a fundamental right and said the party has been demanding it for a long time.

According to reports, Imran Khan received the fourth dose of an intra-vitreal injection for his eye condition at PIMS on April 28, 2026. After the procedure and medical examination, he was shifted back to Adiala Jail.
A statement issued by the PIMS administration said that prior to the procedure, ophthalmology specialists conducted a detailed examination and found Imran Khan medically stable. An Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scan indicated signs of improvement in his condition.

The hospital administration stated that the injection was administered in the operation theater under strict medical protocols and with the patient’s consent, using microscopic guidance by surgeons. The procedure was carried out as a day-care surgery, and Imran Khan remained stable before, during, and after the treatment.
He was later discharged with instructions for further care, follow-ups, and necessary documentation, the statement added.
