Serious Questions Raised Over Judicial Conduct and Alleged Interference in Settlement Process: Munir Ahmed Kakar

Quetta (Daily Qudrat): Member of the Pakistan Bar Council Munir Ahmed Khan Kakar has raised serious concerns over the alleged use of inappropriate language by the Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court and reported interference by judges’ relatives in land settlement matters, warning that such issues could undermine the credibility of the justice system.
In his statement, Kakar said that these allegations have raised serious questions about the functioning of the judicial system in Balochistan. He cautioned that if influential individuals or their relatives are found involved in manipulation or distribution of land settlements, the entire system could become controversial.
He criticized what he described as a contradiction between directives issued by the judiciary regarding transfers and postings in the lower courts and alleged reports of interference by relatives of senior judicial figures in settlement processes.
Kakar also strongly objected to the use of what he termed inappropriate and non-professional language during court proceedings, stating that such behavior from a constitutional office holder is regrettable and undermines the dignity of the institution.
He further stated that the use of disrespectful language towards lawyers, including members of the Balochistan Bar Council, is unacceptable and damages the integrity of the justice system. According to him, courts are meant to reflect fairness, dignity, and restraint, and any deviation from these principles negatively impacts both lawyers and litigants.
Warning of potential unrest within the legal community, he said that if tensions escalate among lawyers, responsibility would lie with the leadership of the Balochistan High Court. He stressed that disrespect or harassment of lawyers cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
Kakar called for a transparent and impartial inquiry into the allegations and demanded action against those responsible. He emphasized that the judiciary and the legal fraternity are interdependent and that mutual respect is essential for the functioning of the justice system.
He urged lawyers to remain united and continue their struggle for rights and professional dignity within the constitutional and legal framework.
