Nine Cousins Marry Nine Brides in Mass Family Wedding in Shujaabad

Multan: In a remarkable display of simplicity and family unity, nine young men from the same family tied the knot with their nine cousins in a mass wedding ceremony held in Shujaabad, near Multan.
The event, conducted with simplicity and minimal expenses, drew attention on social media after videos of the celebration went viral. The grooms reportedly refused to accept dowry, setting an example for an economical and tradition-conscious wedding practice.
The nine grooms — identified as Muhammad Kashif, Muhammad Asim, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Nadeem, Muhammad Naveed, Muhammad Rashid, Muhammad Bilal, Muhammad Shahbaz, and Muhammad Ali — mutually agreed that no financial burden would be placed on the brides’ families.
On the day of the ceremony, nine wedding processions arrived under one roof, followed by a collective wedding reception (walima) hosted jointly by the families. The event was widely appreciated for its simplicity and unity.
Guests and relatives present at the occasion described the atmosphere as joyful and emotional, noting that the purpose of the gathering was not to set a record but to promote an example of simple and affordable marriages.
Family members said the initiative aimed to encourage society to make marriages easier so that no daughter remains unmarried due to financial constraints.
