Health Emergency Alert Issued: Citizens Warned Against 6 Suspected Fake Medicines

Lahore: The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has issued an urgent health alert regarding six specific batches of medicines, declaring them a serious risk to human health.
According to details, DRAP has uncovered the sale of counterfeit medicines in medical stores across Punjab and has ordered the immediate removal and seizure of the identified batches from the market.
The authority stated that laboratory testing confirmed these medicines to be either ineffective or fake, posing severe health hazards to patients.
Among the flagged medicines are eye drops (Glantrum) used for glaucoma treatment, which have been declared counterfeit. Their use may cause serious damage to vision.
Three medicines related to pregnancy and other women’s health conditions have also been found to be fake, along with “Terbiderm,” a drug used for fungal infections.
Additionally, an injection used for hormone therapy and tissue repair has also been declared counterfeit.

DRAP has instructed all provincial drug inspectors to immediately confiscate stocks of these medicines from medical stores, pharmacies, and distributors.
The report revealed that these specific batches were illegally manufactured outside any registered pharmaceutical facility.
Citizens have been advised to carefully check batch numbers and DRAP registration before purchasing medicines and to immediately report any suspicious products to the authorities.
Health experts have warned that the use of counterfeit eye drops and hormonal medicines can worsen a patient’s condition and may lead to permanent disability or serious complications.
