Old Video of Mubasher Lucman on Imran Khan and PTI-China Affairs Goes Viral Again
Lahore: A previously recorded video of senior journalist Mubasher Lucman speaking on the Geo News program Jirga has resurfaced online and is going viral once more. In the clip, Lucman commented on former Prime Minister Imran Khan, saying that Khan’s advantage is that his appearance is unlike political figures such as Altaf Hussain or Jayasuriya, suggesting that public perception plays a key role in political influence.
Lucman added that he respects everyone who supported Khan but criticized what he termed as “two major historical mistakes”: the fall of Dhaka and Imran Khan’s rise. He recounted a personal conversation with Khan, where Khan asked if Lucman thought he would take a U-turn, to which Lucman responded negatively.
He also alleged that a senior Chinese official had informed him years ago that there were indications Imran Khan was sent to Pakistan to limit China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) progress and the strategic development of Gwadar. Lucman claimed that over several years, none of the 16 proposed economic zones under CPEC progressed beyond 2%, and even key officials like Murad Saeed were reportedly not allowed to travel to China to finalize deals.
The video has sparked renewed debate on social media regarding PTI’s governance and the role of foreign relations in domestic politics.
