Maryam Nawaz Launches Free Cardiac Surgery Program in Punjab

Islamabad: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a major healthcare initiative, the Chief Minister Cardiac Surgery Program, aimed at providing free and timely treatment to heart patients across the province.

According to official reports, the program has been introduced under the directives of the Chief Minister through the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department. Following formal approval, the initiative is now operational, offering free cardiac treatment in selected public and private hospitals.

A total of 9 government and 15 private cardiac institutions across Punjab have been included in the program. The facility is specifically designed for permanent residents of the province suffering from heart diseases.

The first successful open-heart surgery under the program has already been performed at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology. The government has allocated more than Rs 3 billion annually to ensure smooth implementation of the initiative.

Maryam Nawaz has also set an ambitious target to eliminate long waiting lists for open-heart surgeries within six months.

To assist patients, a dedicated helpline (0800-09009) has been established. Patients can also contact 042-99066000 from Monday to Saturday (8:00 AM to 11:00 PM) or reach out via WhatsApp at 0333-6756390 for further guidance.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister stated that the government is committed to providing modern healthcare facilities to thousands of heart patients, and this program will play a crucial role in ensuring free and timely treatment for those in need.
