Sindh CM Approves Major Infrastructure Projects in PPP Policy Board Meeting

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah chaired the 51st meeting of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Policy Board, approving several major infrastructure projects across the province.

The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, including Nasir Hussain Shah and Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, along with other senior officials.

During the session, the chief minister approved the construction of a new Sukkur-Rohri bridge over the Indus River, stating that the project will significantly improve connectivity between Sukkur, Rohri, and surrounding areas while reducing traffic congestion.

Officials briefed the meeting that the approximately 1.5-kilometer-long multi-lane bridge will include separate pathways for heavy traffic and pedestrians, helping ease the daily burden of thousands of vehicles. It was noted that the existing Lansdowne Bridge currently handles over 30,000 vehicles daily, while restrictions on heavy traffic have added to commuting challenges.

The chief minister also approved the appointment of project development facilities and transaction advisors, confirming that the project will be executed under the PPP model.

The meeting reviewed progress on the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Expressway, which is reported to be 88% complete. Murad Ali Shah directed authorities to make it operational by April 2026.

Additionally, projects including solar street lights in Sammu Goth, feasibility studies for the Kathore Interchange, and improved link roads were also approved.

Reforms to the PPP policy were introduced to enhance transparency, reject abnormal bids, and promote private investment, including the implementation of the Right of First Refusal (ROFR).

The chief minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure development across Sindh.
