PTM Demands Independent Probe Into Alleged Corruption in Ramadan Ration Package in Balochistan

Quetta: Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party has called for an independent investigation into alleged corruption and lack of transparency in the Ramadan Ration Package 2026.
In a press release from the party’s provincial secretariat, officials claimed that the package, which was intended to provide ration to approximately 328,000 deserving families with an allocated budget of 6 to 7 billion PKR, has been marred by serious irregularities and potential financial misconduct. They noted that ration bags worth 8,000 to 12,000 PKR each, totaling 3 to 4 billion PKR, were distributed in a manner inconsistent with the government’s transparency claims.
The release highlighted that many deserving individuals were deprived of this basic assistance. Specifically, in Quetta, with a population exceeding 3 million, only around 36,000 ration bags were reportedly available—a figure the party described as “extremely disappointing.” Complaints from various districts suggest that the rations were distributed to influential individuals and government representatives rather than to the needy. Social media reports indicate that thousands of ration bags were found in the homes of so-called MPs and powerful figures.
The PTM statement further alleged that district coordination committees, intended to ensure fair delivery to every deserving household, were bypassed due to nepotism, corruption, and favoritism, leaving poor and needy citizens deprived.
The party demanded a full, impartial investigation into the entire distribution process, including purchase records, district-level allocation, and complete lists of recipients. It also called for strict legal action against anyone found responsible for corruption or mismanagement in the program.
