Over 3,600 Child Abuse Cases Reported in Pakistan in 2025: Sahil Report

Islamabad: A new report by the child protection NGO Sahil has revealed alarming figures about child abuse and kidnapping cases in Pakistan, showing a significant rise in incidents during 2025.
According to the report, a total of 3,630 cases of child abuse were reported across the country in 2025, marking an 8 percent increase compared to the previous year.
The report states that 1,924 victims (53%) were girls while 1,625 victims (47%) were boys. Additionally, 116 cases involving newborn babies were also reported.
On average, more than nine children per day were subjected to sexual abuse during the year, highlighting the seriousness of the issue.
Compared with 2024, the number of child abuse cases increased by 266 incidents, reflecting an 8 percent rise.
The breakdown of reported cases includes:
1,107 cases of child kidnapping
596 cases of sexual abuse
522 cases of rape
365 cases of missing children
195 cases of attempted rape
141 cases of attempted sodomy
130 cases of gang rape
108 additional cases of collective sexual assault
The report also recorded 58 cases where victims were murdered after sexual abuse, along with 53 incidents of child marriage.
According to the findings, children aged 11 to 15 face the highest risk of abuse, and boys in this age group were reported to be affected more frequently than girls.
