UAE Allows Residents With Expired Visas to Return Without New Entry Permit

Dubai: The United Arab Emirates has announced a major relief measure for residents whose residency permits expired after February 28, allowing them to re-enter the country without obtaining a new entry visa until March 31.

According to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), the decision was taken in light of the exceptional situation in the region that left many residents stranded abroad.

The authority stated that residents who remained outside the UAE after February 28, 2026, will now be permitted to return to the country. Many individuals had been unable to travel back on time due to airspace closures and flight suspensions.

Under the new measure, affected residents can enter the UAE without applying for a new entry visa until March 31. Officials also clarified that no fines will be imposed on residents returning during this period.

Authorities said the step aims to help affected individuals restore their legal status and reduce their financial burden. The decision was taken on humanitarian grounds under the “Year of the Family” initiative, with the goal of reuniting families separated due to travel disruptions.

The ICP further stated that emergency and business continuity plans have been activated at all airports and operational locations to ensure smooth travel for returning passengers.

Officials added that the facility is specifically intended for residents whose stay abroad was affected after the last week of February so they can quickly return to their jobs and families in the UAE.
