Saudi Arabia Announces Plan for International Maritime Defense Alliance; Pakistan and Türkiye Among 14 Supporting Nations

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has announced plans to establish a new international maritime defense alliance, with Pakistan, Türkiye, and 12 other countries expressing support for the proposed initiative.

According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, representatives from 43 countries and the European Union participated in an international meeting where the proposed alliance was discussed.

Under the plan, Saudi Arabia will serve as the founding and leading nation, and the alliance’s headquarters will be based in the Kingdom.

The proposed coalition aims to strengthen international cooperation in maritime security, enhance coordination among member states, and improve the protection of vital sea routes against emerging security threats.

Saudi officials said further consultations will continue to finalize the alliance’s structure, objectives, and operational framework. No timeline has yet been announced for its formal establishment.
