Former Pakistan Captain Sarfraz Ahmed Appointed Head Coach of National Test Team

Sarfraz Ahmed, former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, has been appointed as the head coach of the national Test side. According to sources from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the formal announcement of his appointment will be made soon, with responsibilities commencing during Pakistan’s upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.
The head coach position had been vacant, with Azhar Mahmood serving as interim head coach during the series against South Africa.
Pakistan is scheduled to play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh in May, which will form part of the ICC World Test Championship 2027. The first Test is set to begin on May 8, followed by the second Test on May 16.
Sarfraz Ahmed previously served as mentor of the Pakistan Under-19 team, leading them to victory in the Asia Cup and recently overseeing preparations for the Under-19 World Cup. His appointment is expected to bring experience and leadership to Pakistan’s Test squad.
