Quetta: The central secretariat of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party has announced that a seminar will be held at the Quetta Press Club at 2:00 PM on February 21 to mark International Mother Language Day. Similar gatherings, seminars, and events will also be organized across the country and abroad, including in Pashtunkhwa وطن and southern districts.

According to the press release, central and provincial party leaders, writers, poets, teachers, professors, doctors, lawyers, artists, actors, representatives of traders’ associations, transporters, and members of civil society will address the events. Party organizations at provincial and district levels have been directed to observe the day in a dignified and organized manner.

The statement appreciated the initiative of UNESCO in declaring February 21 as International Mother Language Day, calling it an important and positive step toward the protection, promotion, and development of the rich linguistic heritage of nations around the world.

The party stated that it has been observing the day every year to promote mother languages, particularly the Pashto language. However, this year the events will be held in a simple manner in respect of the holy month of Ramadan.

PkMAP urged conscious and democracy-loving citizens to participate in seminars, gatherings, and rallies organized in connection with the day to express solidarity with their mother language, national history, culture, and civilization.
