Blaming Federation for Tirah Operation Is Misleading Strategy, Says KP Assembly Opposition Leader

Peshawar: A delegation of the Bara Political Alliance, representing the affected people of Tirah, met Leader of the Opposition in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Dr. Ibadullah Khan, to discuss issues faced by displaced residents.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ibadullah Khan said that the provincial government is running an organized propaganda campaign regarding the Tirah operation, adding that shifting responsibility for such a sensitive matter onto the federal government is a misleading strategy.

He expressed serious concerns over political interference and corruption in the registration of affected persons, stating that the chief minister’s appeal for donations was tantamount to concealing corruption. He further said that the provincial government has failed to provide any practical assistance to the affected people so far.

The opposition leader also criticized what he described as a misleading narrative being spread on social media by PTI, stressing that the problems of the affected people must be resolved beyond political considerations.

Dr. Ibadullah Khan reminded that all relevant stakeholders were present at the national jirga held on September 25, and distancing oneself now amounts to evading responsibility. He said granting permission for the operation and later disowning responsibility reflects a flawed approach, emphasizing that the restoration of peace and rehabilitation of Tirah affectees should be the top priority.

He added that the national jirga had rejected the provincial government’s policies, and despite multiple jirgas, unfulfilled promises have only worsened the situation.

Both the delegation and Dr. Ibadullah Khan unanimously demanded that the political narrative be abandoned and immediate, practical steps be taken to ensure that the affected people receive their due rights without further delay.
