Pakistan’s Participation in T20 World Cup to Be Decided by Government: Mohsin Naqvi

Lahore: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that the decision regarding Pakistan’s participation in the ICC T20 World Cup will be taken by the Government of Pakistan.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Mohsin Naqvi stated that the PCB operates under the government’s directives and that the final decision on participating in the T20 World Cup rests with the government, not the ICC. He added that the board is awaiting the Prime Minister’s return to take a final decision, as the Prime Minister is currently abroad.

“We are waiting for the Prime Minister’s decision. Once the government gives its stance, we have Plan A, B, and C ready,” he said.

The PCB chairman also expressed concern over what he termed unfair treatment of Bangladesh, saying that Bangladesh deserves to be part of the T20 World Cup. “Bangladesh is an equal member of the ICC. If India is given favorable treatment in matters involving Pakistan, then Bangladesh should also receive the same consideration,” he said.

Mohsin Naqvi termed the situation a case of double standards, adding that no country has the right to dictate terms to another. “If there is any attempt at dictation, Pakistan also has its own position and will stand firmly by it,” he asserted.

He further said that he could not share details at this stage but would do so when necessary. Responding to a question, Naqvi remarked that a decision had already been taken on May 10, but what followed afterward was not anticipated.
