Massive Fire Erupts at Akakzai Plaza on Prince Road in Quetta, Dozens of Shops Destroyed

Quetta: A massive fire broke out at the four-storey Akakzai Plaza on Prince Road in Quetta, gutting dozens of shops and causing heavy financial losses. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after several hours of intense efforts.

According to private TV channel Dunya News, the plaza houses more than 200 shops along with a basement, leaving the trader community in deep distress. Multiple fire brigade and district administration vehicles remained engaged for nearly five hours before the fire was brought under control.

Officials said police and other security personnel were present at the scene to ensure public safety and facilitate emergency operations. PDMA officials stated that fireballs were used to control the intense blaze, while thick smoke and high flames created serious difficulties during firefighting operations.

Rescue authorities reported that the affected plaza contained shops dealing in computers, mobile phones, garments, and other goods, raising fears of significant financial losses. Although dozens of shops were reduced to ashes, the fire has now been controlled and cooling operations are underway.

According to rescue officials, six fire brigade vehicles and four PDMA vehicles took part in the firefighting operation. The Chief Fire Officer said the fire had also engulfed a nearby electricity transformer and power cables, further complicating efforts to extinguish the blaze.
