Flour Prices Surge Across Pakistan, Adding to Consumers’ Hardships

A continuous rise in flour prices across the country has caused severe difficulties for consumers already burdened by inflation.
According to the latest official documents released by the **Pakistan Bureau of Statistics**, the price of a **20-kilogram bag of flour** increased by **Rs40 to as much as Rs590** in different cities within just one week.
The documents show that in the **federal capital Islamabad**, the price of a 20-kg flour bag has become the highest in the country, reaching **Rs2,893.33**.
During the week, **Sargodha** recorded the highest increase of **Rs590**, followed by **Multan** with an increase of **Rs226.66**, **Khuzdar** Rs200, **Bahawalpur** Rs163.33, and **Quetta** Rs140.
In the same period, flour prices rose by **Rs134 in Gujranwala**, while **Islamabad and Rawalpindi** saw an increase of up to **Rs120**. Prices increased by **Rs100** in **Karachi, Peshawar, Sukkur, and Larkana**, **Rs80** in **Hyderabad and Sialkot**, **Rs50** in **Bannu**, and **Rs40** in **Lahore**.
According to the latest rates, the price of a 20-kg flour bag now stands at **Rs2,866.47 in Rawalpindi**, **Rs2,850 in Peshawar**, **Rs2,800 in Bannu**, **Rs2,660 in Quetta**, and **Rs2,600 in Karachi**.
The sharp rise in flour prices has further intensified the problems of inflation-hit citizens, with consumers now looking towards the government for **immediate measures** to control prices and provide relief.
