Dense Fog in Lahore Disrupts Flights, Temperature Drops to 3°C

Lahore: Lahore and several cities across Punjab are experiencing dense fog and cloudy conditions, with temperatures dropping to as low as 3°C in some areas. The fog has reduced visibility and intensified the cold, as the sun struggles to break through the thick layer of clouds.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Lahore recorded a minimum temperature of 5°C and a maximum of 14°C, while some localities saw temperatures fall further to 3°C. The weather department has forecast dry and cold conditions with no rainfall expected in the next 24 hours.

The dense fog has severely disrupted air traffic at Allama Iqbal International Airport, affecting 22 domestic and international flights. Airport sources reported that flights to and from Dubai, Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Istanbul, Doha, Karachi, and Sharjah experienced delays of 2 to 5 hours. Visibility at the airport dropped to just 50 meters, causing operational challenges despite the availability of advanced landing systems.

Several airlines, including Saudi Airlines, Etihad, Air Blue, PIA, Emirates, and Turkish Airlines, either delayed or canceled flights due to the fog. Airport authorities have advised all passengers, both domestic and international, to check the latest flight updates before traveling to the airport.
