Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Meets Owners of New PSL Teams, Congratulates Winning Bidders

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with the representatives of the two companies that won the bids for two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams, Ozee Developers (Sialkot) and FKS (Hyderabad), congratulating them on their successful acquisition.

The Prime Minister praised PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and the board’s administration for organizing a transparent auction and highlighted that the live broadcast of the bidding process showcased its credibility and fairness.

He emphasized that the addition of two new teams in PSL will promote cricket at the grassroots level, provide opportunities for emerging talent, enhance the league’s global popularity, and attract foreign investment.

The auction for the 7th and 8th PSL teams was held in Islamabad with nine bidders participating. FKS secured the Hyderabad team with a winning bid of PKR 1.75 billion, while Ozee Developers won the Sialkot team for PKR 1.85 billion. The initial bidding for the 8th team started at PKR 1.7 billion and concluded at 1.85 billion.

During the auction, a thrilling competition was observed between FKS and ITC Groups for the Hyderabad team. Initially, ten bidders and six potential cities were introduced, but after Ali Tareen decided not to participate, the total number of bidders was nine.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi officially opened the auction by ringing the bell, while former cricketer Wasim Akram served as the auctioneer. At the conclusion, Naqvi congratulated the winning bidders and commended the efforts of the PCB and PSL members for the league’s success.

The inclusion of the new teams is expected to strengthen the PSL franchise system, enhance competitiveness, and provide greater exposure to local and international cricket talent.
