Two Indian Nationals Arrested in Indiana for Smuggling 309 Pounds of Cocaine

Police in the U.S. state of Indiana have arrested two Indian-origin truck drivers for allegedly smuggling 309 pounds (approximately 140 kilograms) of cocaine, valued at around $7 million.

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the seized quantity was large enough to potentially harm over 113,000 Americans. The incident occurred on Saturday during a routine highway inspection when officers stopped a semi-truck for search.

A sniffer dog detected the hidden drugs in the truck’s sleeper berth, leading authorities to uncover several cardboard boxes concealed under blankets, containing the cocaine.

Court records indicate that both suspects were taken into custody and transferred to jail. The Indiana State Police confirmed that the accused face serious criminal charges related to drug trafficking and have also been placed on deportation hold.

The arrest underscores the U.S. authorities’ strict measures against illegal drug smuggling and their commitment to preventing such activities.
