Just Resolution of Kashmir Issue Essential for Lasting Peace in the Region: Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti
Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, in his special message on Kashmiris’ Right to Self-Determination Day, said that a just and fair resolution of the Kashmir issue is essential for ensuring lasting peace in the region.
He stated that 77 years ago the United Nations had recognized the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people, but regrettably, the Kashmiri nation remains deprived of this fundamental and internationally acknowledged right to this day.
In a message shared on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said that Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir continue unabated, where innocent Kashmiris are facing grave human rights violations. He termed the silence of the international community as unfortunate and condemnable, adding that the role of global human rights champions has become questionable on this critical issue.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti reaffirmed that the people and government of Balochistan stand shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brothers and will continue to extend moral and diplomatic support to the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people at all levels. He emphasized that Kashmiris must be granted their right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations resolutions, stressing that a just settlement of the Kashmir issue is indispensable for sustainable peace in the region.
