Financial Times Hails Field Marshal Asim Munir as Pakistan’s Most Effective Strategic Leader in a Changing Global Order

Islamabad: Britain’s leading newspaper Financial Times has described Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as one of the most effective strategic leaders to emerge amid the rapidly changing global order, praising his exceptional ability to navigate complex international dynamics.
According to the report, contemporary global politics has ushered in a new but challenging phase for middle powers, where maintaining balance among multiple major powers has become increasingly difficult. In this context, Financial Times notes that Field Marshal Asim Munir has emerged as one of the most successful “multi-aligners” among middle powers.
The newspaper termed him an expert in multidimensional foreign policy, stating that he has kept Pakistan’s diplomacy simultaneously active and effective across Washington, Beijing, Riyadh, and Tehran. This balanced and pragmatic approach, the report said, has opened new diplomatic opportunities for Pakistan on the global stage.

Financial Times further highlighted that Pakistan’s military chief demonstrated the best alignment with the unconventional and informal style of former US President Donald Trump. His timely engagement, cordial communication, and flexible diplomatic posture proved effective in advancing Pakistan’s interests.
The report described Field Marshal Asim Munir as a clear example of successful middle-power diplomacy and strategic leadership. It added that Pakistan’s diplomatic gains have caused frustration in India, where playing the role of a middle power has proven more difficult than expected.
According to the newspaper, India failed to adapt to shifting global realities and Trump’s diplomatic style, resulting in significant challenges for New Delhi’s middle-power strategy. The Financial Times concluded that Pakistan’s evolving foreign policy under Field Marshal Asim Munir reflects a sophisticated and effective response to the demands of a transforming global system.
