Azma Bukhari Reveals Prior Acquaintance With Bushra Bibi Before Her Marriage to Imran Khan

Lahore: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bukhari has revealed that she had met Bushra Bibi before her marriage to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, saying their acquaintance was through a mutual family friend.

In an interview, Azma Bukhari stated that Bushra Bibi used to express fondness for her and would encourage her to ask questions or seek guidance. However, Azma said she made it clear that she does not believe in intermediaries and prays directly to Allah for whatever she seeks. She added that Bushra Bibi did not appreciate this response.

Azma Bukhari further recalled that Bushra Bibi once said Imran Khan acted after consulting her. In response, Azma said she remarked that whatever Imran Khan was doing appeared to be on Bushra Bibi’s advice, adding that she later felt she may have spoken too bluntly.

She emphasized that her meeting with Bushra Bibi took place before Bushra Bibi’s marriage to Imran Khan.

The provincial minister also clarified that she has never believed in spiritual intermediaries, mysticism, or practices such as sorcery, stating that she relies solely on direct prayer.

Azma Bukhari said that during the period when she raised issues of corruption in press conferences, Bushra Bibi conveyed a message through her daughter—who was a classmate of Azma’s brother—expressing disappointment over the remarks. According to Azma, this occurred after Imran Khan had been jailed.

She maintained that she never used inappropriate or unethical language and had made her position clear at the time.
