Pakistan Extends Temporary Truce with Afghan Taliban Government Amid Doha Talks

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has extended the **temporary ceasefire** with Afghanistan’s Taliban government following a request from Kabul, diplomatic sources confirmed on Friday.
According to the sources, the **truce has been prolonged until the conclusion of the ongoing negotiations in Doha** between the two sides. The **48-hour ceasefire**, which was initially agreed upon two days ago, **expired at 6 p.m. today** before being extended.
Diplomatic officials said the **extension was made at the request of the Taliban government**, adding that **high-level talks are expected to begin on Saturday**.
Pakistan had earlier approved a **two-day temporary ceasefire** in response to Kabul’s appeal for de-escalation as both countries seek to resolve key border and security concerns through diplomatic channels.
