Illegal Prize Schemes in Hazara Town Threaten Children’s Future, Human Rights Activist Demands Immediate Action

Quetta (Daily Qudrat) – Prominent human rights activist, Advocate Jalila Haider, has expressed serious concern over ongoing illegal lotteries and prize schemes in Hazara Town, Quetta, urging the government to take immediate action.

According to Haider, these activities are luring children and youth to earn money through shortcuts, presenting themselves as lotteries but functioning as organized, illegal gambling operations. Certain groups are reportedly charging PKR 2,000 per participant, offering incentives such as motorcycles, mobile phones, and gold sets.

She highlighted that minors and young boys, often using money from their parents, are the primary victims, leading to financial, mental, and domestic issues within households. Haider warned that these schemes are promoting a mindset of getting rich overnight rather than valuing hard work and education, and repeated failures could lead to frustration, anger, and violent tendencies, directly affecting peace and stability in the area.

Jalila Haider urged authorities to immediately shut down these groups, thoroughly investigate the centers and activities, and launch awareness campaigns for parents and children. She emphasized that community policing could play a crucial role in eliminating this harmful trend from the area.
