Bollywood Legend Dharmendra Passes Away at 89

**Mumbai:** Bollywood icon Dharmendra passed away on Monday at the age of 89 at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. Numerous Bollywood stars and family members were seen outside his residence dressed in white to pay their respects.
Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar confirmed Dharmendra’s death on Instagram, paying tribute to the legendary actor.
According to reports, Dharmendra had been hospitalized two weeks earlier due to breathing difficulties, and he also underwent eye surgery in April this year. His final film, *Akeli*, is scheduled to release on December 25.
**A Look at Dharmendra’s Legendary Career:**
Dharmendra began his film career in 1960 with *Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere*. Over six decades, he delivered numerous award-winning films, including *Sholay*, *Yaadon Ki Baaraat*, *Mera Gaon Mera Desh*, *Naukar Biwi Ka*, *Phool Aur Patthar*, and *Phool Aur Patli*. In 2012, he was honored with India’s third-highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan.
Born as Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol in a village in Ludhiana, Punjab, he married Prakash Kaur at the age of 19 in 1954, before later marrying actress Hema Malini.
Even at 89, Dharmendra remained active on social media, often sharing videos promoting healthy living. Many of his posts featured him driving tractors, tending his farm, and sharing lessons on simple living and farming with his fans.
