Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan Warns Pakistan Will Respond Strongly to Any Regional Aggression

Lahore: Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan warned on Sunday that Pakistan would deliver a strong response if any party in the region resorts to aggressive actions. He also urged political actors to return to dialogue and cautioned against turning assembly forums into platforms for protest.

Speaking to reporters in Lahore, Malik Ahmad Khan said there are issues on which political consensus is necessary and that politics needs a constructive path. He praised the prime minister’s outreach, saying “dialogue is the only solution,” and stressed the nation’s desire for peace and economic growth. He warned that when provincial leaders refuse to coordinate with the federal government, the country’s foundations can be shaken.

The speaker accused India of sponsoring terrorism inside Pakistan, alleging that India funds proxies to carry out attacks and pointed to past arrests of alleged Indian agents as evidence. He criticized what he called a “war-like mindset” in New Delhi under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said Islamabad has presented proof of terrorist activities originating from India and Afghanistan. Malik Ahmad Khan urged a firm stance against such designs and said Pakistan will “fully respond” if anyone proves their hostility in the region.

He expressed hope that Pakistan–Afghanistan talks will be productive and reiterated that proxy wars produce destructive outcomes for all involved. On domestic security, the speaker supported the ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), saying talks should be reserved for groups committed to peaceful dialogue, while violent or terrorist organizations must be stopped.
