Two FIA Officials Arrested at Islamabad Airport for Taking Bribes to Facilitate Illegal Immigration

Islamabad: Authorities at the **New Islamabad International Airport** foiled an attempt to send citizens abroad illegally in exchange for heavy bribes, arresting two **FIA immigration officials** involved in the scheme.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the arrested officials include **ASI Arshad Nadeem** and **Head Constable Mujahid Ali**, both deployed at Islamabad Airport. The arrests were made following surprise checks ordered by **Director FIA Islamabad Zone Shehzad Nadeem Bukhari**, who has enforced a strict zero-tolerance policy on corruption.
During a surprise inspection led by **Deputy Director Immigration Salman Liaquat**, the officials were found using mobile phones during duty hours in violation of standing orders. Examination of their devices revealed communication with passengers and agents facilitating illegal immigration.
Investigations uncovered that the accused were charging **Rs. 50,000 per person** to send citizens abroad, particularly to **Philippines and Uzbekistan**, with evidence of transactions worth millions of rupees recovered from their mobile phones. The suspects were also using microfinance accounts to receive bribe payments.
FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle has registered a case, and the suspects were presented in court where a **three-day physical remand** was granted. Authorities said further investigation is underway to trace the network of agents and accomplices.
