Gilgit-Baltistan Local Government Elections Schedule Postponed for Seven Days
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has postponed the schedule for local government elections for seven days, giving the government additional time to complete proposed amendments to the Local Government Act 2014.
According to the Election Commission, the government has been granted another seven days to finalize the proposed amendments to the law.
The commission said revised dates for all stages of the electoral process affected by the postponement would be incorporated into a revised election schedule.
The polling scheduled for September 27 will also be held on a new date under the revised programme.
The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan will issue a fresh election schedule after the seven-day extension period expires.
